The Voice of an Intern
My name is Jennifer and I am interning in Marketing with FleetMatics for the month of June. It is extremely exciting to be interning in an office that has many international developers, each one contributing to the advancement of the FleetMatics software. Being a college student in this environment, I am excited for the opportunity to establish a new business perspective and to learn how a global business operates. It is fascinating to see how each specific departmental role functions on a daily basis and how each department is a necessity to the business and product.
For the next few weeks, I hope to guide you through my FleetMatics journey and, together, discover the enhancements that were part of the 9.0 software release. I will also be sharing responses and feedback on the new release both from FleetMatics developers and sales teams, as well as our own customers.
The developers love hearing customers opinions on the upgrade and I am looking forward to posting the positive feedback that FleetMatics have received. Step by step, and day by day, I will discuss the features of 9.0 so everyone can see what all the fuss is about!
As a guideline, I will discuss the new additions to the 9.0 release, along with customer responses to the upgrade. Briefly, I will introduce some of the changes to ensure that we are all on the same page.
Hotspots
Firstly, I would like to start with my favourite feature, as it was the first to catch my attention, known as Hotspots. I am here a week and am already looking forward to hearing what customers think about Hotspots. Obviously every fleet manager and/or business owner is aware of where their vehicles should go, but with Hotspots (accessed in Live Fleet and Reports), they will discover locations their drivers frequent that they weren’t previously aware of. The Hotspot Report includes the number of visits to a given location, the average time spent there, average travel time spent getting there and more.
Driving Style
Driving Style’s aim is to help our customers run their commercial fleets more safely by monitoring hard braking, hard cornering and quick starts. Through baseline metrics, drivers’ behaviour can be monitored and analysed in comparison to their peers. The value of this upgrade is for both safety and vehicle efficiency. Again, this is only a brief overview of the driving style’s many functions.
These features are just a taste of what’s to come!
I hope you all enjoyed reading this blog and that you will return to read about more in depth features of the 9.0 release. Please feel free to share your comments in questions below.
