With Christmas fast approaching and shoppers going into overdrive, it’s perhaps something of an understatement to suggest it’s a busy time of year to be a courier.  

As people up and down the country anxiously await your deliveries, you need to make sure that you’re not only ready to handle the extra workload, but that you’re able to do it in the most efficient way possible… 

Get tracking… One of the easiest ways to make sure everything runs smoothly this Christmas is to equip your fleet with the latest GPS tracking technology. Not only can tracking systems help you plan your drivers’ routes effectively and efficiently, but you’ll also be able to quickly and easily integrate any extra last minute drops without causing too much of a delay to your normal service. 

Communicate! It’s one thing for you to know where your drivers are, but it’s quite another to ensure everyone else does too. To keep everything running smoothly this winter, it’s crucial that you communicate well with your staff, your clients, and, at times, their customers.
 
So make sure that your clients know your cut-off dates for pre-Christmas delivery, and if any of your customers gifts get held up along the way, make it nice and simple for them to track their delivery and make contingency pressie-plans if necessary.

The great British weather is notoriously unreliable, especially at this time of year – and when you’re working to tight deadlines, even the shortest of delays can have an impact. Don’t forget about January While it may seem obvious, with everything going on in the lead-up to Christmas it can be easy to forget that there’s life on the other side of December 25th! What with January sales, returns, and belated gifts, the first month of the year can be just as busy as the last – so get your schedule sorted, and make sure you’re ready to react to whatever 2016 has to offer.
